Personal History

Born it in the Black Country town of Oldbury and later and at age seven moved to HandsworthWood suburb of Birmingham. Attending a secondary modern Catholic school until at nineteen attending a day release course at the Dorrington School of photography nearby in Handsworth for the next three years. While still working for a commercial studio based in Birmingham city centre called Dubarry Studio established for over a hundred years and where I learnt many of my early photographic skills. As a professional photographer or Thirty years I came to this animation course with several skills from both my professional and personal life. From the age of 19 I have taken photographs from many different aspects of life including portraits and weddings, industry and commercial and for a period of seven years with the West Midlands police as a crime photographer. Which we called the 'Quincy photos' after the 70’s TV series which predates the now popular ‘CSI’ program, shown most nights of the week.

At the same time in my personal life I was practising several art skills which included, painting, life drawing and Clay modelling, both having been displayed and sold at different times to individuals and galleries alike over the last 10 years.

Animation for me is a combination of many of the skills I have learnt over the last few years, focused down into one practice, which over the last two years has brought me to examine much of what I thought I knew and refocus it into a stronger understanding of these subjects into one discipline which how comes under the long title of ‘Digital Animation Art and Design’.
